Using the Relaxed Syntax Flag

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

The Relaxed Syntax flag with Adobe PDF Library 15 and 18 allows a developer to intentionally bypass invalid formatting when opening and working with input documents and PDF files. Setting this flag to “true” allows an application to correct minor syntax errors and thus allow the software to continue to process the PDF document. By default, the flag is turned off (“false”).

You could use the Relaxed Syntax flag to address issues with invalid fonts, page content, and images within a PDF document or source file.

If you set Relaxed Syntax to "true" you can allow your application to continue to process a file without prompting an error message.  In most cases, when this flag is turned on the system will correct, override, or ignore any error messages that appear.
