Is an Upgrade to IDS v15.1.0 or Later Required?

An upgrade is not required for environments currently running IDS v15.0.1 or earlier. Organizations may continue using an existing IDS installation if:

The current setup meets operational needs
There is no desire to introduce changes that could disrupt ongoing workflows
Or both conditions apply

Continuing to use an older version of Adobe InDesign Server remains a valid option under these conditions; however, doing so means any new features, enhancements, and bug fixes introduced in later releases will not be available.

When renewing maintenance contracts, can the existing serial numbers be used?

When maintenance with Datalogics is renewed, the continued use of an existing serial number depends on the intended IDS version.

If there is no plan to upgrade to IDS v15.1.0 or later, the serial number originally issued by Datalogics may continue to be used, provided that the maintenance contract remains active.
If an upgrade to a newer IDS version is planned, a Datalogics support representative can provide login credentials for accessing the latest software release - which requires no serial numbers, on the Datalogics FTP server. Upgrades are available at no additional cost.

When needing to purchase additional licenses with no plan to upgrade to IDS v15.1.0 or newer, are serial numbers still available?

For environments currently running IDS v15.0.1 or older and seeking to purchase additional licenses without upgrading, it is important to note the following:

Datalogics no longer issues serial numbers for any new license purchases.
All new licenses must use the Feature Restricted Licensing (FRL) model. This requires installing IDS v16.0.0 or later, which can be obtained by downloading the FRL package from the Datalogics FTP site.

Is there a charge to upgrade from IDS 15.0.1(or older) to the latest IDS release?

Upgrading from an older version of Adobe InDesign Server to IDS v16.0.0 or newer is available at no additional cost.
Organizations with a current maintenance contract with Datalogics have access to the Datalogics FTP site, where the latest IDS releases can be downloaded.

Where do users go to download the latest version of IDS?

Connect to sftp://ftp.datalogics.com using an FTP client (port 22) or to https://ftp.datalogics.com using a browser.
Login using the Datalogics provided username and password.
The username and password are provided during the initial account setup. If these credentials are unavailable, contact Datalogics Support at tech_support@datalogics.com
to request FTP login information.
Once logged in, go to directory /Products/InDesign/[Platform]/[License Type]/.
The InDesign Server installation package is delivered as a ZIP file for Windows and a PKG file for Mac.
