Can the Library convert PDF files to images?

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

The core Adobe PDF Library can be used to render a PDF page to a bitmap. The user application must then take the bitmap and add the appropriate image header (TIF, JPG, etc.) to the bitmap.

If are using the Java and .NET interface, the product supports directly writing to various image formats. See the DocToImages and DrawtoBitmap samples in "Converting PDF Pages to Images" for .NET and Java.

If your application only needs to be able to convert PDF pages to image files, you might want to consider another Datalogics product, PDF2IMG. This utility is based on the Adobe PDF Library and enables you to convert an existing PDF document to one or more BMP, EPS, GIF, JPG/JPEG, PNG or TIFF image files. You can use PDF2IMG as a standalone utility or embed PDF2IMG code within your own application.
